Blooming from late spring into summer, they add height and colour to cottage gardens, flower beds, borders and pollinator plantings, and the spikes make striking cut flowers. Bees love them.

Please note: these are ornamental lupins. Start indoors in deep pots 6–8 weeks before the last frost, or sow directly outdoors in spring or autumn. Sow about ¼ inch deep in well-drained soil of moderate fertility and keep moist; seedlings usually appear in 10–20 days at around 60–70°F (15–21°C). Lupins have long taproots and dislike being moved, so transplant young seedlings carefully once they have a few true leaves, spacing them 12–18 inches apart. Plants usually flower fully from their second year.

How to Grow

Grow in full sun to partial shade in well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil; avoid rich or heavily fertilised soil and waterlogged ground. Water moderately and mulch to conserve moisture. Lupins prefer cool summers and can struggle in extreme heat. Stake tall spikes in windy sites, and cut faded flower spikes back to encourage a second, smaller flush of blooms.

https://organicseedshub.com/products/lupin-flower-seeds-lupinus-polyphyllus-mixed-colour-perennial-lupins
