Transplanting: Once seedlings have 2–3 sets of leaves, transplant outdoors with spacing ~60 cm (24 in) apart.

How to Grow

PLANT TYPE

Deciduous shrub

Rubus Spectabilis, commonly known as salmonberry, is a deciduous shrub native to the Pacific Northwest that typically grows in moist, rich soils and forms dense thickets along stream banks and forest edges. The ‘Flore Plena’ or double-flowered form features showy, many-petalled blooms that appear in spring before or with leaf emergence, making it an excellent ornamental choice. Although the typical salmonberry produces edible aggregate fruits resembling raspberries, the double-flowered form is generally grown for its stunning flower display.
